How we teach

01

Understand

Concepts before commands. Know why Playwright needs await, what a fixture is and where page comes from.

02

Build

Complete projects, from a first e-commerce suite to your own production-style framework.

03

Break

Break-It labs with fixed waits, bad locators and shared state that you must redesign correctly.

04

Debug

Trace Viewer, Inspector and a clear failure framework: application, automation, data, environment or infrastructure?

05

Scale

Parallel-safe tests, sharding, CI/CD pipelines and Docker for suites with thousands of tests.

06

Explain

Framework defence and architecture interviews, so you can justify every decision you make.

Playwright Modern Automation Engineer in 12 chapters. Each one builds on the last, so concepts are understood before they are automated.

  1. 01 Chapter 01 · Phases 1–4 Start with the foundations Automation mindset, JavaScript, async code and TypeScript.
  2. 02 Chapter 02 · Phases 5–7 Meet Playwright Architecture, your development setup and your first test.
  3. 03 Chapter 03 · Phases 8–11 Build reliable UI tests Locators, auto-waiting, browser interactions and assertions.
  4. 04 Chapter 04 · Phases 12–14 Design for real applications Fixtures, authentication, user roles and test data.
  5. 05 Chapter 05 · Phases 15–17 Connect APIs and UI REST API testing, hybrid workflows and network mocking.
  6. 06 Chapter 06 · Phases 18–20 Engineer your framework Page Objects, components, architecture and configuration.
  7. 07 Chapter 07 · Phases 21–22 Run at scale Parallel-safe tests, sharding and distributed execution.
  8. 08 Chapter 08 · Phases 23–24 Break it. Debug it. Fix it. Trace failures, investigate flaky tests and fix the root cause.

  12. 12 Chapter 12 · Phases 33–36 Build your portfolio. Defend your decisions. Three projects, framework defence and interview preparation.

Learn by building

Real projects. Real engineering decisions.

Move from guided practice to independent design. Build work you can explain in a portfolio or technical interview.

01 { ui }

Project 01 / E-Commerce

Your first complete test suite.

Automate login, search, product selection, cart and checkout with Page Objects, test data and reports.

  • UI automation
  • POM
  • Assertions
02 { ui + api }

Project 02 / Enterprise

Test a connected business system.

Work with multiple roles, permissions, business rules, API integration and parallel execution.

  • Authentication
  • APIs
  • Test data
03 { architect }

Project 03 / Capstone

Your requirements. Your framework.

Choose the architecture, fixtures, API clients, reporting, parallelism and CI/CD strategy. Explain why.

  • Architecture
  • CI/CD
  • Scale

Career preparation

Ready for the
technical interview

Finish with a GitHub portfolio you can demonstrate, documentation that explains your framework, and practice answering architecture questions out loud.

  • GitHub portfolio
  • Project README
  • Framework documentation
  • Architecture diagrams
  • Resume project descriptions
  • LinkedIn positioning
  • Playwright interview questions
  • Live coding preparation

Interview questions you will be ready for

  1. 01You have 2,000 automated tests and execution takes eight hours. What would you do?
  2. 02Thirty tests fail intermittently. How would you investigate?
  3. 03How would you manage test data during parallel execution?
  4. 04When should a UI validation be moved to API testing?

These are not memorisation questions. They test your engineering thinking.

Frequently asked questions

Are the courses taught online?

Yes. Every MutateCode program is taught online, so you can learn from anywhere.

Do I need coding experience to start?

No. Our programs begin with software testing fundamentals and JavaScript from the basics, then move to asynchronous JavaScript and TypeScript before Playwright automation starts.

Which program should I choose?

Choose Playwright Modern Automation Engineer to go deep on Playwright, framework design, debugging and CI/CD. Choose Complete Software Test Automation & AI Engineering if you also want a full AI track covering LLMs, prompt engineering, AI agents, RAG, MCP, n8n and LangChain.

Will I build real projects?

Yes. The Playwright program includes three projects: an e-commerce test suite, an enterprise business application and a production-style framework you design yourself. The AI Engineering program includes eight major projects: three Playwright projects and five AI applications.

I already use Selenium. Is this useful for me?

Yes. The Playwright program includes a dedicated Selenium to Playwright migration phase covering what can be reused, what should not be copied, framework coexistence and gradual migration strategies.
